2013 Season - Week 17

Highest Scoring Season Ever

It came down to the final points of the regular season but with Philadelphia’s win on Sunday Night Football Marcus won the Conference and finished the season on 672 points, two ahead of the previous record set by Andy H back in 2007. To put this in context it is 37 points more than Chief’s third best annual total and 88 more than the fourth highest (shared by Daz and Johnnie). His main source of points was the record setting season from Peyton Manning who scored 171 BUMS points, nine more than the previous QB record set by Tom Brady for H in his 670 point season. Craig finished second and joins Dave G in the promotion spots with Marcus. Dave G and John swapped places a few times in the early games but in the end Dave’s highest score since 2008 saw him pull ahead of John after an 18 point week from Drew Brees. At the bottom David S completed his own challenge, having scored just 18 points through the first four weeks it was odds on he would set a new all-time low. In the end a 100 point four week run from week 13-16 helped him to 263 points ahead of AP (241 in 1998), David himself in 1999 (258) and Marcus also in 1998 with 259 points. Going Down George, AP and Andy H will head to the conference to make way for Marcus, Craig and Dave G. In the end Mark secured his survival as he outscored each of them. AP and Andy H are tied on points so our draft order tie-breaker will be used again with the player with the highest score in the Wildcard round picking earlier. Champion for the third time Chief joins Wayne and Johnnie as a three-time BUMS Champion and his score of 564 is the 8th highest of all-time. Chief has now finished in the top two in each of the past five seasons with two wins and three second place finishes. Aaron tried hard to catch Chief in the final week, entering the Scoring Hall of Fame for the fourth time ever as he secured second place, finishing five points ahead of his mum. It was his highest finish ever and Cheryl’s highest since 2005, she won the BUMS in 1996. As a result Johnnie had his streak of seven consecutive top three finishes broken. Another Huge Scoring Season Last season we scored 7,367 points (154 more than our previous highest of 7,213 back in 2004) for an average of 460.44 points per owner which beats the previous high of 458.83 from our first year in 1995 when we only had 6 owners. This year we had the second highest season total ever scoring 7,305 for an average of 456.56 (the third highest average). Is this because the BUMS are becoming smarter or defences are getting worse?
